5-8th amendments

Witness: means to be there and be able to answer any questions concerning the place that they were at.

Indict: When the grand jury finds more than enough evidence to bring you to trial.

Testify: means to tell the truth of any question about the evidence normally in court.

Grand Jury: The grand jury is made up of 12-23 people and their job is to find out if the evidence is right and the person on trial should be the accused.
Due Process: how and why laws are enforced.

Capital Punishment: a crime that might end in a death sentence.

Excessive: over reacting, more then necessary.

Bail: is an amount of money used to get someone out of jail.

Peer: a peer is a person that is equal to another in a lot of things.

Write a paragraph (5-7 sentences) answering the following questions:

Do you believe that people accused of crimes deserve all of these rights or just some of them? Why or why not?

I think that some people deserve those rights and other people should only get some of those right. People who steal things normally just steal things because they need that item or they just don't have the money to get it they normally get away with like a warning. But someone who really hurts or kills someone should not get those rights. They need to be proven guilty and then they need to go straight o jail they should not get the choice to pay a amount of money and then be good until they hurt someone else.I think that they should get some rights, the ones they deserve but that's it.

1st amendment

1. Give a speech before a large gathering of people and express opinions about the president's abilities. This is protected by the first amendment because in the 1at amendment you have the freedom of speech.
7. Circulate a petition calling for the repeal of an unpopular law. In the 1at amendment it states that you can have a petition as long as nobody gets hurt.
8. Post your opinion on your blog about an issue being discussed at a local school board meeting. In the 1st amendment you can say or print anything that you want to as long as it is true.
The first amendment is important in my everyday life because if it was not for the first amendment we could not get together at school and learn about everyday issues, we could not speak our opinions about the issues that happen everyday. Also if the first amendment was not active we could not have our own religion we would have to go by the religion that the president went by.

2 amendment

1. Gun control should be allowed, only to some people. You should have to take a test to see if you are eligible to have a gun in your possession. I can see why people would want to have a gun in there house for protection, because just in case somebody broke into there house then they have a source of protection for there family. But if a gun got into the wrong hands then there could be a bad situation.
2. I do not think that it is fair to make people open their homes to soldiers if they do not want them to I think that the government should have a couple of homes that are already empty and have food in them. It is not fair that people have to make room in their homes for soldier if they do not wish to do so.
3. A situation when the police would need to come and obtain a warrant to search a home might be if somebody said that they had seen a wanted man in that home/ building. Another time that the police might have to obtain a warrant might be if they think that something dangerous might be about to take place there, and there needs to be police force.
